CLUB UPDATES:

SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE!!

For the 2009-2010 year, we will award a $500 Scholarship to another freshman
from our area. This is the 7th scholarship the club has awarded and will make
our total of scholarships awarded $3920. Thanks for your support. Special thanks
to LISA WARD and MAGNOLIAS for decreasing the cost of our last meeting (and the next meeting)
so that the scholarship program can stay funded. Campus cut the match program last year
so without Lisa we wouldn't have been able to have a scholarship this year.

Congratulations to Tayler Onion from Industry for her winning application--see below!

APPLICATION #5

10. So that I can start my career, buy a dog, and name him "Chief."
9. So that I, like my Grandma, can tell people I went to school with famous
people....(like the 10 Nobel Peace Prize winners, 12 Pulitizer prize winners--or
as my Grandma says, Dick Butkus).
8. So that when I come back for sporting events, I can stand proudly and sing the
Alma Mater.
7. Because it's easier to find t-shirts and memoribilia.
6. So that I can tell people about the Morrow Corn Plots that are located near
the middle of campus.
5. So I can tell people, "If it was good enough for Abraham Lincoln to begin,
it was good enough for me to attend."
4. I'll have the opportunity to network with thousands of other Illinois alumni.
3. So that I can share my enthusiasm about the friendly campus that becomes a home
away from home.
2. Because this is the state's flagship university, and I can say that I am one of
the select few who had the opportunity to attend.
And the number one reason why I cannot wait to be a U of I alumni is so that I can
encourage and inspire others to attend Illinois and have the great friends,
experiences, and job opportunities that I had.
